What's in your Tub?

A well know television commercial asks you "What's in your wallet" while this may determine your financial health what is in your "bath" may affect your physical health. First do you know how much chlorine or chlorimide (mixture of Chlorine & Ammonia) is in your shower or tub water? These chemicals have a damaging effect on the skin and hair as they are absorbed by your body as you shower or soak in a bath. Also, the hot water and steam allows for the inhalation of these dangerous chemicals. It has been said that you may drink bottled or purified water but an unfiltered shower for 10 min. will give you more absorbed chlorine than if you drank tap water all day. How smart is that?

We began to investigate the presence of chlorine and chloimide and its affects on our product. ExerSoak™ is a 100% natural bath additive but we discovered that the water quality of unfiltered bath water needs to be addressed to help you recoverbetter. Here is a link to an article on the subject: http://tinyurl.com/2a7q9t5 we are currently testing several shower/bath filters that we blog about in future posting. Please feel free to comment if you have any useful input. Our goal is to develop natural products to help you recover from workouts, relieve tired and sore muscles and ease muscle fatigue. Benefits of Soaking (Hydrotherapy)

Soaking in water for therapy has been used for thousands of years. Notably the Greeks, Romans and Asian cultures have all understood the value and pleasure of a long soak in a warm bath. In modern times runners and athletes have turned to ice baths as a way to speed the recovery of the muscles and joints and decrease inflamation. This practice is common and useful but not all studies show this to be the only way to aid in recovery. http://tiny.cc/fntkb

We must not forget to consider the effectiveness of a warm bath. People flock to soak in hot springs and Jacuzzi tubs around the globe in masses, while the polar bear clubs have a scarce number of members willing to brave the bone chilling waters. However the ahhhh effect and pure comfort is not the only reason to consider an warm aqua escape.

Immersion in warm water will raise the body temperature causing the dialation of blood vessels and an increase in circulation. More oxygen rich blood and the nutrients from your after run food & drink are now being supplied to your starving muscles and joints. Also, when you include a recovery product like ExerSoak™ in your bath water you increase bouyancy which reduces body weight relieving the pressure on joints and muscles and allowing you to truly relax and heal. Exersoak™ contains a combination of essential oils and minerals which have positive healing effect on the body and mind. (A post on essential oils & minerals in another post later).

Try Exersoak™ in your next bath and enjoy not only the healing and relaxing effects of soak but the aromatic bliss of the essential oils.

For the brave, if you need a pick me up you can always copy a Roman ritial and follow your warm bath with a cold shower to bring an exhilarating rush of natural energy.

Dead Sea Report

How did ExerSoak begin?

My first experience with the Dead Sea was on a trip with my wife to the Middle East in 2001. I was intrigued by the fact that the Dead Sea was the lowest elevation on the earth. It is over 1,300 ft below sea level and that it contains minerals that can only be found in its waters. The feeling I felt as I floated in its water was something I will never forget. The best description I could give is that it is like floating in baby oil. During this trip I knew that there was something special about the Dead Sea but did not fully understand what it was until many years later. Fast forwarding a few years… I have a high school son who discovered the love of running. He was consistently taking ice baths (very useful but not enjoyable) and other times he would simple soak in a warm tub to relax. Sometimes he would include only Epsom salts which is effective, but the results were short lived and very drying to his skin. I began to think there had to be other options. During this same period of time my wife was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and was also spending time soaking in a warm baths to relieve the pain associated with her illness. Once again I thought, “There has got to be more that can be done to enhance these soaks”, but I could not find any products in the marketplace. This led to my extensive research on recovery and the role of minerals and their effects on the body. I began to experiment with various combinations such as Dead Sea Salts, Epsom salts, Essential oils among many other salts from around the world. My son, my wife, and I have personally used each product extensively. After months of development, I am proud to offer several recipes that are the most relaxing, and effective in reducing muscle pain, as well as appealing to the senses. It is my desire for others to experience what we have through consistently using our recovery soak.
